Called the Superbowl of Sportfishing, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is the world’s richest sportfishing event and Offshore Lifestyle’s Capt. Frank D’Anna made history with back-to-back wins there!

Winning once at Bisbee’s is a life goal for many.  Winning twice is incredibly rare, yet when we caught up with Franky, he was very humble.

With back-to-back wins in 2016 and 2017 – his modest recollection of the events on camera conveniently left out the fact that he saved the day in 2016.  On the second day of the tournament the C-Bandit sportfishing boat wouldn’t start – Frank determined it was the batteries and there was no time to purchase new ones.  Like some kind of offshore MacGyver, Franky spliced a shore power cord to create makeshift jumper cables that got the boat running and on the water in time for the team to catch the 416-pound Black Marlin.  It was the catch that won them the day’s jackpot of $685,000.

In 2017 Frank was the angler that reeled in a 569 lb. Black Marlin in 45 minutes, boating the largest billfish of the tournament just minutes before the tournament’s end.  This catch helped the team win $764,966.

After these wins Franky says he just feels fortunate to have made a life on the water, fishing and driving amazing boats.  He’s been a partner in the Offshore Lifestyle brand for many years and we’ll look forward to hearing more about his fishing adventures down the line.
